MooDFOOD
In 2014, the MoodFOOD project (preventing depression through food), led by prof. Marjolein Visser and prof. Ingeborg Brouwer of the Department of Health Sciences from the VU University, started. The aim of this study is to investigate intake, nutrient status, food-related behaviour and whether obesity is linked to the development of depression.
MoodFOOD is a multidisciplinary consortium involving 13 organizations in 9 European countries, using a unique integrative approach which combines expertise in nutrition, consumer behaviour, psychiatry and preventive psychology. The department of psychiatry of Amsterdam UMC/VUmc and GGZ inGeest are members of the MoodFOOD consortium and were involved in the recruitment of participants in the Amsterdam region.
