Societal cost-benefit analysis in care for anxiety and compulsive disorders: Prevention saves nearly 10 million euros

Without timely and adequate treatment, anxiety and compulsive disorders lead to major health damage and high social costs. Neeltje Batelaan: “Our recent research by Amsterdam UMC, GGZ inGeest and SiRM shows that the prevention of anxiety disorders yields significant benefits. Apart from the benefits for the individuals themselves, each prevented disorder not only saves healthcare costs but also increases labor productivity. Each percent reduction in these disorders has a societal benefit of nearly €10 million over a 10-year period.”
