Dr. Marijke Bremmer, MD, PhD

Marijke A. Bremmer is psychiatrist and senior researcher at the department of psychiatry of Amsterdam UMC/VUmc, and at Diabetes Mentaal (Diabetes and Mental health). Both her clinical work and research are in the field of complex somatic-psychiatric co-morbidity. The main focus of her research-line is on the neuro-endocrine and inflammatory factors underlying the depression-somatic diseases relationship. Marijke’s current research projects include: 1) somatic and cognitive factors underlying chronic depression in the elderly 2) the interplay between depression, chronic sleep disorders and diabetes.
