Willemijn D. Scholten is a psychotherapist and senior researcher at the Academic Workplace for Anxiety Disorders at GGZ inGeest. Willemijn combines clinical work, research, and educational activities.

She conducted research on relapse in people with anxiety disorders based on the NESDA cohort, conducted an RCT on relapse prevention for people discontinuing antidepressants, and studied patient preferences regarding relapse prevention. This research resulted in a PhD in 2017.

Currently, her research focuses on the longitudinal course of anxiety disorders, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) in anxiety disorders, and treatment for individuals with treatment-resistant anxiety disorders. Additionally, she works as a psychotherapist at the TOP GGZ outpatient clinic for anxiety disorders and OCD, is a member of the Academic Workplace for Anxiety Disorders at GGZ inGeest, and serves as a supervisor in the education program for GZ-psychologists at GGZ inGeest.
