As a psychiatrist I have been working in Consultation – Liaison Psychiatry and at the Med-Psych Unit for my entire career. For my contribution to the development of consultation-liaison psychiatry and integrated care I was granted the Frits Huyse Award at the 2024 EAPM conference. In 2025, I will change the focus of my clinical work to outpatient care for patients with Persistent Physical Symptoms at the Centre for Soma & Psyche in Amsterdam UMC. My clinical and research interests are holistic and integrated care, including work on the Intermed method to provide integrated care for complex patients, and Shared Decision Making. I am also a co-researcher in the “Sitters” project, a project that aims to diminish the use of restraints by deploying trained medical students.
