Researchers involved

Slaapregister.nl was initiated as a collaboration of VUMC, Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience (NIN), and VU Amsterdam.
Slaapregister.nl aims to provide a Citizen Science interface to connect people that want to contribute to sleep research with researchers and clinicians. The online platform allows for both surveying and guided interventions. Over the years, Slaapregister.nl has facilitated e.g. research on:
1. subtypes of insomnia with different mental health risks;
2. effects of caffeine and alcohol on sleep;
3. how poor overnight dissolving of emotional distress contributes to chronic hyperarousal;
4. transdiagnostic subtypes of hyperarousal with different representation in anxiety disorders, depression and insomnia
5. sleep and circadian rhythm intervention to prevent depression;
6. sleep and circadian factors in depression severity in ADHD;

Over 20,000 participants signed up to receive newsletters and invitations to participate in online surveys. They cover the full range of people with good sleep and mental health to people with any combination and severity of comorbid insomnia and/or mental health issues.
