Guido van Wingen

PhD

Guido van Wingen is Professor of Neuroimaging in Psychiatry. He studied psychology at Utrecht University and obtained his PhD at the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behavior in Nijmegen.
The general aim of his research is to understand the neural basis of psychiatric disorders. His research focuses on what makes someone vulnerable to the development of psychiatric disorders, on how various treatments exert their effect, and on the development of predictive biomarkers. To address these questions, he combines neuroimaging techniques (MRI, EEG) with various treatments (psychological, pharmacological, and neurostimulation (rTMS, ECT, DBS)) and machine learning analysis.
He published over 200 research articles, obtained prestigious personal grants, and is PI of the BOOST Depression consortium that is funded by the Dutch Research Agenda (NWA-ORC).
