Project HARMONIE is a pilot study aimed at developing, implementing, and evaluating a hybrid approach for the safe and structured discontinuation of antidepressants in primary care. This project is in collaboration with GGZ inGeest, IVM (Instituut Verantwoord Medicijngebruik), Nivel and MIND.
The project focusses on adapting an existing discontinuation method from secondary care to primary care settings, ensuring that patients receive structured and effective support from their general practitioner (GP), pharmacist, and mental health practice nurse (POH-GGZ). By integrating digital tools with face-to-face consultations, the project seeks to optimize antidepressant discontinuation while maintaining standard care protocols.
Key goals:
• Develop a practical and scalable discontinuation method tailored for primary care.
• Implement the method in a pilot phase within participating GP practices.
• Evaluate feasibility, effectiveness, and user experience among patients and healthcare providers.
GPs, pharmacists, and POH-GGZ professionals play an active role in shaping and evaluating the method to ensure its practical applicability.
By integrating hybrid support, with a combination of e-health tools and in-person care, this project aims to improve the accessibility and effectiveness of antidepressant discontinuation support in primary care.
