Lieuwe de Haan

MD PhD

Prof. dr. Lieuwe de Haan is Professor Psychotic Disorders at Amsterdam UMC department of Psychiatry and Arkin.

The research of Lieuwe’s group focuses on subjective experiences on antipsychotic treatment of patients with schizophrenia. Obsessive-compulsive symptoms in patients with psychotic disorders is another important theme.
Fundamental and clinical aspects of psychopharmacological influences on craving for cannabis in patients with schizophrenia is a major theme for recently started research projects.

Since 2020 Lieuwe and colleagues are studying dose-reduction of antipsychotic medication after remission of the first psychotic episode. Recently they started projects concerning proteomics associated with oxidative stress and novel interventions improving oxidative stress-reduction. Last but not least they are studying phenomenological aspects of self-disorders during treatment with antipsychotic medication.
