Yuri Milaneschi is a researcher in psychiatry and epidemiology at the Department of Psychiatry of Amsterdam UMC, The Netherlands. He trained in clinical psychology and psychotherapy in Italy and previously worked in aging epidemiology research at the National Institute on Aging in Baltimore, USA. His research focuses on the biological and genetic underpinnings of depression pathophysiology, particularly the immuno-metabolic pathways. He has led large-scale epidemiological studies using genomics and metabolomics in depression research and has authored expert reviews on depression, obesity, and the concept of “Immuno-Metabolic Depression.” In 2023, he was awarded a Starter Grant from Amsterdam UMC to expand his research exploring immuno-metabolic pathways in depression using epidemiological and experimental studies. He is currently a member of the Scientific Quality Committee of Amsterdam Public Health, the Scientific Affairs Committee of the Psychoneuroimmunology Research Society and co-PI of the INFLAMED trial testing anti-inflammatory add-on treatments for Immuno-Metabolic Depression.
