Mental health nursing Innovation & Research Amsterdam
The aim of our project is to invest sustainably in the quality of mental health nursing research and innovation in the Amsterdam region. We do this by establishing a well-organised research infrastructure and by developing a practice-oriented research programme for a period of four years and beyond. Many different parties are involved in this collaboration, including research organisations (Amsterdam UMC), educational institutions (Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, Inholland University of Applies Sciences, ROC van Amsterdam), care organisations (Parnassia Groep, Altrecht, GGZ Noord-Holland-Noord, Arkin, GGZ inGeest, GGZ Centraal, Cordaan), MIND, and specialised knowledge institutes (CCE, Phrenos, 113 Zelfmoordpreventie). Within this collaboration, we elaborate a substantive research theme with broad relevance for the quality of nursing care. We aim to develop methods that enable nurses, other care professionals, clients, and relatives to better manage ‘challenging situations’ in care. These may include, for example, situations related to aggression, self-harm, suicidality, or non-adherence to treatment. We develop practical methodologies and training programs to support improved communication and person-centred care.
