Academic Collaborative Center Anxiety Disorders and OCD

The Academic Collaborative Center for Anxiety Disorders and OCD (ACCADO) is a collaborative initiative between the Department of Psychiatry at Amsterdam UMC, location VUmc, and the outpatient clinic for Anxiety Disorders and OCD at GGZ inGeest. This strong and productive partnership has been recognised with the designation of Top Clinical Center by the Dutch Foundation for Top Clinical Mental Health Care (TOPGGz).

We conduct clinically relevant research with the goal of better understanding the course of anxiety disorders and improving treatment outcomes. Our team consists of scientist-practitioners who are passionate about combining clinical practice with scientific research.

Our mission is to enhance the quality of life of individuals with anxiety disorders and OCD—as well as their families. We aim to do this by advancing knowledge and treatment. In research we focus on (relapse) prevention, and the development of innovative treatment options such as schema therapy, intensive treatment programmes, and repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS).

ACCADO actively participates in clinical trials and also initiates, leads, and coordinates large-scale multicenter randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
